Referee Development
The Soccer Nova Scotia Referee Development program is tasked with the recruitment, registration and development of soccer referees. Entry level programs are developed for persons wishing to become referees and extend to programs that include National level and FIFA referees.
Theory courses based on material from the IFAB, FIFA and Canada Soccer are offered to entry level and promotion scheme referees. Ongoing educational sessions are provided both online and in person to help referees, instructors, mentors and assessors stay current with the frequent laws and application changes that come to our game. In many areas, on field practice sessions and fitness opportunities are provided to assist in referee development.
Mentoring and assessment of referees to help in quality control but also to help referees become prepared for and move to different levels of the game to best fit the needs of the sport and in the best interests of the referees and the people we serve.
