IDEA Grant Program Now Open
Up to $5,000 available for inclusive, community-driven soccer initiatives
As part of Soccer Nova Scotia’s ongoing commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) and its organizational values, the organization is proud to continually turn these principles into meaningful action. One way we do this is by supporting clubs across the province who are also taking action. Soccer Nova Scotia is proud to launch the IDEA Grant Program, supporting clubs, leagues, districts, and associations in creating more inclusive, accessible soccer opportunities across Nova Scotia.
Funding Available
- Up to $5,000 per project
- One-time funding for IDEA aligned initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Projects that:
- Remove barriers to participation
- Support underrepresented communities
- Are community-driven and locally relevant
Priority Focus
We encourage initiatives supporting:
Women & girls • Newcomers • Indigenous communities • African Nova Scotian communities • 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals • Persons with disabilities • Financially disadvantaged participants

IDEA Grant Program – FAQ
Who can apply?
All Soccer Nova Scotia member clubs, leagues, districts, and associations in good standing are eligible to apply.
How much funding is available?
Projects can receive up to $5,000 in funding. Funding is provided as a one-time grant.
What types of projects are eligible?
We are looking for initiatives that:
- Remove barriers to participation
- Support underrepresented communities
- Create more inclusive and accessible soccer environments
Examples include:
- Introductory or targeted programming
- Adaptive or inclusive programming
- Participant supports (fees, equipment, transportation)
- Community outreach or partnerships
What expenses can be covered?
Eligible expenses may include:
- Program delivery (coaches, facilitators)
- Equipment and materials
- Transportation or access supports
- Facility rentals
- Outreach and engagement
Ineligible expenses include:
- General club operating costs
- Capital infrastructure
- Retroactive funding
How will applications be evaluated?
Applications are reviewed based on:
- Alignment with IDEA principles
- Potential impact
- Community relevance
- Feasibility and planning
When will I know if my application is successful?
Applicants will be notified by May 8, 2026.
How is funding distributed?
- 80% provided upfront upon approval
- 20% provided after submission of a final report
Is reporting required?
Yes. A short final report is required within 6 months of project completion, outlining outcomes, impact, and key learnings.
Can we apply with a new or pilot idea?
Yes. Innovation is encouraged. Pilot projects and new approaches are welcomed.
Can we partner with other organizations?
Absolutely. Community partnerships are encouraged and can strengthen your application.
